Academic Camps and Programs
This summer, St. Ambrose University invites the Quad Cities community to participate in our summer camps and conferences. We offer LEGO Sumo camps, piano camps, Model UN camps, and more.
LEGO Sumo 2025 - Grades 5-9
Session 1: June 16-18 and 20, 2025, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Session 2: July 7-11, 2025, 9:00 am-12:00 pm
Explore engineering and robotics through the use of LEGO Mindstorms robots and Scratch programming! Students entering grades 5-9 will program autonomous robots using sensors to challenge each other in the sport of LEGO Sumo. Daily snacks are provided. Camp fees are $150 and include a camp t-shirt and daily snack.
Health Careers Adventure Camp 2025- Grades 7-8
July 14-18 8:30am-4:00pm
The Health Careers Adventure Camp offers participants entering the 7th and 8th grades the opportunity to experience firsthand the challenges, opportunities and rewards of health professions through hands-on learning sessions provided by faculty and practicing clinicians. Campers will be supervised by faculty and students currently enrolled in the health sciences educational programs and will have the opportunity to explore potential healthcare related skill sets through thought provoking interdisciplinary activities.
Students will gain exposure to a variety of professions including, but not limited to biology, exercise science, athletic training, dental hygiene/dentistry, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, physical therapy, physician assistant, public health, social work, speech-language pathology, and surgical tech.
In addition to partnerships in the Quad-Cities, students will travel to the University of Iowa Colleges of Dentistry and Pharmacy for learning experiences on Tuesday, July 15. On-site supervision, t-shirt, team bag, daily snacks and lunch, and transportation to and from learning experiences are all included in the program fee of $250. Scholarships are available for campers who participated in the free/reduced lunch school program this past year.
Piano Camp 2025 - Grades 8-12
July 14-18, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Students entering grades 8-12 in the fall will attend daily activities at the Galvin Fine Arts Center and McCarthy Hall on the St. Ambrose University campus. Each day campers will receive daily lessons*, performance seminar, a specialty piano class, piano ensemble class where students can play duets with their fellow pianists and have supervised practice. On the last day, campers will present a concert showcasing what they have learned throughout the week. Friends and family are invited to attend! The option to order lunch in Cosgrove Cafeteria for the week can be added at checkout.
*All campers are asked to come prepared with a minimum of two pieces to work on during the camp.
Model UN Camp 2025 - Grades 9-12
July 21-22, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
St. Ambrose University Model United Nations summer camp (grades 9-12) is a two-day conference at which key activities of the United Nations Security Council are simulated. This conference is designed to enhance critical and analytical skills essential for preparation for college level coursework and provide a unique academic experience to help craft that standout college admissions resume. Camp fees are $100 and include a camp t-shirt and lunch in the Grove Cafeteria (space is limited to 20 campers).
2025 Coding Adventures Camp
Session 1: July 21-25, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm (grades 1-4)
Session 2: July 21-25, 1:00-4:00 pm (grades 5-9)
Get ready for an exciting summer of coding! In this camp, students entering grades 1-4 and grades 5-9 will explore the fundamentals of programming through engaging, hands-on projects. Younger students will start with fun, interactive coding games to learn the basics, while older students tackle more advanced concepts, building their own animations, games, and digital stories. This camp fosters creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork in a supportive, tech-focused environment. Daily snacks are provided to keep everyone energized for a day filled with learning and exploration! Camp fees are $150 and include a camp t-shirt and daily snack.
