Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 ("Title IX"), 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex-including pregnancy and parental status-in educational programs and activities.
Students may request accommodations during pregnancy, after childbirth, or for other related conditions. Accommodations are tailored to each student and as such they will vary from student to student. Some examples of potential accommodations include:
Accommodations for students originate through the Accessibility Resource Center (ARC). It is the student's responsibility to contact ARC and initiate the conversation. Employees should arrange accommodations through Human Resources (HR).
The St. Ambrose Children's Campus (SAUCC) offers discounted rates for students of the University. SAUCC provides a comprehensive early childhood program for children from the ages of 6 weeks to 6 years old, resources for families and educational experiences for university students.
Lactation rooms are available on the main campus (Bride's Room in the Chapel) and at the Children's Campus.
